His proprietary blue undoubtedly endured
the most extensive aesthetic exploration
ever carried out on any color,
being as it was the main event
in some 200 monochromatic paintings
and innumerable monochrome objects.
Contrary to appearances,
their surfaces are not truly uniform:
looking closely, the viewer notices
barely perceptible bumps and shadows
created by the irregular topography
of the artworks which, all things told,
are less concerned with the color itself
than with the commodification of color
and by extension of art.
